Nine Beauty Founders Share Their New Year’s Resolutions and Tips For A Happier, Healthier 2023, Part II

While the saying ‘new year, new you’ may be a bit cliché, closing out the calendar year with a self audit to take stock of what's truly important in our lives and to set intentions for the future is something we can definitely get on board with.

The best resolutions are those that benefit both your physical and emotional health–so, out with the old and anything that doesn’t serve you well, and in with the new rituals and practices that nourish the body and mind.

For inspiration, we turned to some of our favorite brand founders to find out what resolutions they are making for the year ahead. Whether it’s something as simple as reconnecting with nature, trying new recipes or taking time out to read more–here, some inspiration for our own lists, part II.

Annee de Mamiel, Founder of de Mamiel

“I think for next year, I really want to commit to carving out some slow-down time. Sundays are usually a day when I do a long run or a mega walk with my dog Willow, so extending that to add in some stretching, a regular post-exercise bath in Altitude Soak and really pausing, taking that bath time to masque and massage with the Restorative Cleansing Balm feels like it is achievable! “

Emma Lewisham, Founder of Emma Lewisham

“I prefer to do a past year review as it’s more informed, valuable, and actionable. Our days are too precious not to fill them with the people and activities that nourish us most. I use a notepad and create two columns– positive and negative– then, through my weekly calendar from the last year,  I note down people and activities that triggered peak positive or negative emotions and put them in their respective columns. Whoever and whatever is in the peak positive column I schedule more of in the new year, booking in with friends and prepaying for activities that bring joy. One of my own positive actions to take into 2023 is actively scheduling more time for self-care. For me this looks like booking in my Pilates classes each week and making sure I stick to them.“

Allison, Jacqueline, and Elaine Taylor, Founders of Le Prunier

Allison: “My wellness resolution for 2023 is to prioritize exercise. I used to be so diligent about running and practicing yoga several times a week but as my workload has increased, those things have taken a back seat, so I’m looking forward to carving out more time to commit to a routine. I find that when I’m active, I sleep better, have more focus, and feel more energized. I’m spending more time in Colorado this year so I’m also really looking forward to getting better at skiing.”

Jacqueline: “For 2023, my New Year's intention is to focus on being my best self by setting aside time to work out for a minimum of 30 minutes throughout the week–whether that’s going on hikes, swimming, or walking my German shepherd. Also, making time to use a steam room to detox and relax. As a mompreneur, life can become very hectic, so carving out time for yourself is oh-so-important for maintaining a healthy and happy balance in life.”

Elaine: “Even though things can get busy, I am committing to a healthier sleep routine in 2023. I also hope to resume volunteering at local animal shelters, something I did frequently in the past. I love cooking, so I will be aiming to try a new recipe at least once a week.”
