Furtuna Rinascita Delle Olive Replenishing Balm
Welcome to our new Desert Island Picks feature, in which we’ll regularly feature our must-have products; the ones that, as the name suggests, we’d take with us to an island if we only had one choice.
First up: a magical blue balm from Furtuna Skin.
This product is such a dream, we don’t quite know where to begin. For starters, it is intensely moisturizing, which we no doubt need this time of year, as the temps rapidly drop and our skin becomes parched due to anything from harsh indoor heating to wind burn when we spend a lot of time outdoors.
We’re not sure if you’ve heard the term “slugging”, but it’s using an occlusive (like Vaseline or Aquaphor) overnight to prevent water loss and dehydration. The practice is best suited to those with dry skin, irritation, chapping, even eczema. If the concept of slathering Vaseline all over your face doesn’t sound too appealing, may we offer you a slugging upgrade/alternative: while it’s technically not occlusive, we love to slug with Rinascita Delle Olive Replenishing Balm for an intense surge of moisture. Our skin is like a glowing baby’s bottom upon waking, especially during the colder fall and winter months.
We've even found that this balm works wonders for slightly more irritating conditions. For example, our senior brand and e-commerce manager, Cristina, shares this anecdote: "I get a pesky spot of eczema under my eye on occasion, usually as a reaction to something I ate or drank, or even when the weather changes. I tried this balm for the first time after I'd woken up to said angry patch. I had an Rx cream for these occasions, but I thought, let me try the Furtuna balm instead. Within minutes the redness and swelling were gone; 15 minutes later it was as if the eczema had never existed. The Replenishing Balm is truly a miracle worker." While we would advise consulting your doctor before using anything on more serious skin conditions, we nonetheless had to share this story.
Another reason we love this stuff: the scent. We don’t know how to describe it other than “heavenly”. It smells like nothing else our noses have met, but we’re thinking the 5 wild-foraged plants, hand-picked from the hills of Furtuna’s certified organic farm in Sicily, have something to do with it. Trust us: you will want to try it for yourself.
Lastly, the packaging is beautiful: substantial, luxurious, and vanity-display worthy.
