Desert Island Pick: de Mamiel’s Restorative Cleansing Balm is a Cold-Weather Skin Savior

We talk a lot about how this time of year, our skin dries up like a raisin and we’ll take any and all opportunities to inject it with a bit of hydration and therefore, life.
Now that cold weather is here in earnest, one of our go-to skincare practices is cleansing with a rich balm. On the days we’ve worn makeup, spent a lot of time outside (in the grimy city specifically) or exercised, we’ll often double cleanse: beginning with a balm and following that up with a second cleanser.
Our current go-to cleansing balm is from de Mamiel. The brand’s products are created with aromatherapy at the heart; naturally, this balm smells divine so we always make sure to get a good whiff. As per the directions, we warm a bit in the palms of our hands, massage onto the face and neck with upward, circular motions, then soak a cloth in warm water and hold it against our face for a moment, which steams and activates the oils in the formula. This is also when we take a deep breath and savor the lemon-rose scent. The wonderful ritual helps to melt away both physical impurities and mental stress.
The Restorative Cleansing Balm doesn’t feel oily, nor does it leave a film post-cleansing; rather, it results in skin that’s clean, fresh, and hydrated, never stripped. It restores the skin’s natural moisture barrier while calming, soothing, and reducing unwanted inflammation and redness.
As a side note and spoiler alert: de Mamiel’s Restorative Cleansing Balm will be featured in our live event scheduled for this Thursday, January 5th with Onda’s resident intuitive reader, Christiana. She’ll offer a product pick for each astrological sign based on the sign’s qualities and suggested intention for the New Year. It just so happens that this balm is her product recommendation for Libras; it also just so happens that the writer of this piece is a Libra and chose the product before knowing it was Christiana’s recommendation for her sign. A coincidence? We think not. Christiana knows her stuff. We hope you’ll join us on Thursday to hear more from Christiana; the live promises to be a lot of fun. (You can set a reminder here.)
